Yes We Can.

Last week end, the vice president of the United States came to my campus in Plymouth, NH. I was excited by what he would speech for the future of this nation although politic is out of my interest.

“Today, I’m gonna talk about the unemployment” his speech was begun with like this beginning after his people and many international students, like me, waited the beginning for more than an hour in a crowded space. The speech was really well organized, but nothing was mentioned with exact numbers such as until when, how much, and how many he promises us to do in the next coming administrational term. What I understood was that he hires consultants so his speech would become look good. I understood what hard times he has experienced in his life before. I understood how the selfish Wall streeters are interrupting the States’ economy to recover from the recession. And I understood how many mistakes the Bush administration made. I think “unemployment” is not a topic the vice president should talk about now because we have much more priorities, yet he should have finished at least this topic with numbers at the speech since he promised us to talk about this at the beginning.

And I had no idea for what points people there made the standing ovation. Also, it contradicts to say here, but the USA is the county of immigration, country of opportunity, and country of challenge. We, young people, have no time to ask the politicians to take care of the number about the unemployment. Establish your own business. Move out to another place for more opportunities. You can do that because you are a child of the challengers. You are the one who take care of your life. That is what I moved to this country for.

I was disappointed a lot by the speech. Yes I somehow already know that politicians are many times just saying wards. That is always all politicians about. In the coming next administrational term, the “change” should come from us instead of ones on a stage for speech.

Each of us has to wake up to prepare for being able to cultivate our lives like your ancestors did.
Wake up America!!

I overcome it.

“I’m not what I have done. I am what I overcome” This saying came into my eyes from the board which is behind of a bus driver’s sheet when I was on the bus for weekend shopping. I was surprised, and somehow became happier because this kind of saying was exactly what I was thinking at the same time when the words jumped in my eyes. I think this is because of the tight schedule in my recent days in Plymouth. Taking classes, get grades, and successfully graduating from here… these things were becoming my purpose, but this is actually not what I wanted to do. Graduating my master here is only a way for me to live in the US, and make my American dreams come true. If I can legally live in this country, and begin the challenge for my dreams from now, I’m always up to leave this BS!! Graduate school? MBA? It’s not even cool. These are just “What I have done”. My core purposes here should be like, see the entire business world from different directions, create the study relationships with my colleague, and absorb the real experiences and opinions from others including my professors. These will be “what I am overcome”.

When I saw the wards and the driver who I guess put the ward on, I just woke up. The driver was not so talkative when I asked some questions, but I felt that he has achieved many things in his life. I could see that from his gentle smile and strong arms which drove the bus. Doing something is not important. What I learn, improve, and overcome is important.

That’s what I was thinking, and that’s how I am in my life.

Go for it, Chuji.

Only curiosity leads Chuji.

It’s so beautiful days in Plymouth in this three days weekend. I did cooking and some exercise just as usual in this two days. Tomorrow would be a little bit different. Something which was lately out of my day schedule such as reading books for FUN or taking photos of nature around me with my lovely Rico’s camera. Here Plymouth has such a beautiful view when it’s sunny. You will see the endless view of mountain, and probably hear the sound of leaves move and little birds are singing songs on the top of the mountains. I really hope it won’t be snowing. The weather in this weekend is the best!!

Classes are always busy. They never stop. It’s totally unsure if I can be a productive business person by doing this kind of routine assignments, but just keep going, reading, and typing. We can’t look forward, just look back as Steve Jobs said… And here is one more thing which is unsure if it will work in my future. I’m thinking to begin my food cart business on PSU campus. It would be from the Winter term since this Fall is crazily busy. This food cart will bring Japanese sweets. I know food cart is not a kind of business model which is begun by an MBA student, but I can’t stop seeing the picture in which both students and Chuji are happier. I don’t know how this attempt works in my future. Only curiosity leads Chuji!!

Steve Jobs begun assembling personal computers to change the World.
Chuji will begin cooking Japanese sweets to change the World.

I’m sure that I can talk in front of Stanford students sometime soon:)

Go for it!! Chuji.

Stay hungry, stay foolish,

One of biggest class events of mine in this middle of term, presentation, is done this week. It has got much easier for me to handle my times although still one more mid-exam is waiting for me to be done.

Now, I’m listening to “imagine” by John Lennon. That was last night. When I just opened my Facebook before going bed, I knew Steve Jobs passed away. One guy said on youtube that this event is as shock event as the time when the World lost John Lennon or John F Kennedy. The fact of that he is outstandingly smart is outstandingly true, but he was also enthusiasm and artistic. We have seeing his face and his smartness behind iphone, ipad, and all Mac’s products. Reason why having Macs looks cool is that they are ideas of Steve Jobs. Even I was expecting more times when the World sees the new better World by him although I’m not a Mac user. We somehow did imagine the brighter World by belonging him in terms of technology.  My mind is full of emptiness.

Since I knew the speech of legend at Stanford university, listening it and inspire myself is my daily mental exercise. “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life”… I don’t know how much close I can get to him in terms of “Changing the World”, but now there is no excuse myself for wasting my time, giving up any of my goals, and always be Chuji.

I’m glad that I live when he changed the World in his lifetime.

Stay hungry, stay foolish,
Chuji,
